Duets 2010

Cam, Mia, and Andrew both prepared and competed in a Duet Competition. Cam and Andrew played together, Mia played in a Trio, and Cam also played with another boy his age.

All did fabulous in the competition and made it to the honor recital which means they placed in the top three of their division. At the honor recital, each received $10. After the recital, Kate asked Andrew how he felt about his prize money. He threw his arms in the air and expressed his disappointment "I played it perfectly. I thought it was going to be 50 bucks!"

The recording below is from the recital prior to the competition.

Piano Recitals

The truth is that piano has taken over our lives. There's not at day that we wake up without planning how we will squeeze piano practice into our oftentimes busy day. We even plan our vacations around minimizing missed piano practices and lessons! When the recital comes and we hear them perform, we know it is well worth the sacrifice.

Cam started taking piano lessons at the age of three, and started with his current teacher, Amanda Nixon (accompanying him in the clip below), at the age of five. In this clip he is playing a concerto that he auditioned with for several youth symphonies in the area, receiving a few honorable mentions.

This was Mia before her last competition. This month she begin taking lessons from Cam's more advanced teacher. We are excited for her piano skills to continue to develop.

Poor Andrew

Poor Andrew has been through a lot these past few weeks! While playing at his friend's house he bumped his mouth, jamming two of his front teeth into his gum. (The teeth have come down quite a bit in the last week
, but his front tooth is now completely gray.) Then he decided to cut his own hair; we like to call it his "Vanilla Ice" haircut. The good news is that his hair is slowly growing back and eventually (like when he is seven) that tooth will fall out. In the meantime we are getting used to his new look.

Halloween

We had a great Hallowe
en!

Andrew was a blue monster, Cam was a doctor, Mia was a flapper, and Cupcake (otherwise known as Annika) was a ballerina. Annika was almost unrecognizable with her usual curly, unruly hair slicked back into a bun!

Family Photo Shoot 2008

For our very first post on this blog, I thought I would give a preview of our highly anticipated 2008 Christmas card family photo. Anyone who has a two-year-old knows getting a decent family picture is anything but easy!

Check out the out-takes.

Fixing hair.

Waiting around.

That looks great, but is someone missing?

Ready yet?

You will have to check your mailbox in December to see what we ended up with!
